What I Listened to in the Studio in 2024!

Happy New Year everyone! I think I can still say that even though it’s already the end of January… Anyway, I thought it would be fun to share my favorite music, podcasts, etc. to listen to in the art studio from 2024! It is so hard for me to create without some sort of background noise. If I’m in a silent studio and my headphones die, I will in fact leave almost immediately. Not to brag, but I also feel qualified to share a bit of my music taste with y’all because I was asked to connect to the print studio speaker once or twice back in 2024.

Music!!

I can easily and happily say that Hozier and Chappell Roan were my top spotify artists in 2024… I also had a Brat girl summer, so it’s safe to say that my taste in music was a little all over the place. Here are some playlists that I made to accommodate my always changing moods!

Good chill mix!

It’s time to get a coffee and wake up!

French culture immersion in the studio!

Podcasts

When I listen to podcasts, I want something funny that holds my interest while also spreading a positive message. I think it's very important to pick podcasts that help you discover other people’s perspectives with the goal of cultivating empathy, empowerment, and personal growth. With that goal in mind… I also want to kick my feet and giggle every now and then.

The Broski Report

  • This is the podcast I listen to when I want to learn random facts and need a good giggle. Brittany Broski is brilliant in sharing her perspectives and knowledge about what is happening in present-day pop culture. She is not just a comedian either, this woman is SMART. I adore listening to her analyze pop culture moments, art history, and her current hyper fixations.

Smosh Reads Reddit Stories

  • If you love hearing some wild Reddit stories, this is such a good podcast. I mainly listen to it during my many car rides back and forth from Wichita and Manhattan. After reading some wild stories, the Smosh team always has a great take or advice on how to handle certain situations

The Comment Section with Drew Afualo

  • If you are ever needing a reminder to feel empowered as a woman, this is a great one. Drew has weekly guests join her and they just discuss life and their personal experiences. Drew keeps it real and gives great advice for any issues you may be facing.

Let’s Talk About Myths, Baby!

  • I know I am not the only one that had a major hyper fixation on Greek and Roman mythology. I absolutely LOVED Percy Jackson as a kid. In this podcast, Liv Albert shares stories from Greek and Roman mythology, but with a refreshing feminist take.

Audio Books

I am very proud to say that I got back into reading in 2024! I have a spotify premium subscription and have access to lotssss of audiobooks. Since it was the year I got back into reading, I found many of these titles from Booktok. Here’s what I listened to/read last year:

  • A Court of Thorns and Roses series

  • Throne of Glass series

  • Lightlark series

  • Fourth Wing

  • Heirs of Bone and Sea

  • The Hobbit

My TBR list for 2025…

  • Farhenhite 451

  • 1984

  • Animal Farm

  • The Hunger Games

  • Onyx Storm

  • Crescent City Series

  • Twilight lol
